The Challenge of Geological Uncertainty
A primary challenge in geotechnical engineering is accurately interpreting subsurface structures from limited borehole data. Traditional 2D cross-sections can miss critical structural details in complex fault zones, leading to "engineering blindness."
Visualizing the Subsurface with Passthrough
Mixed Reality (MR) headsets with "Passthrough" capability fundamentally change this paradigm. By overlaying digital holograms onto the user's real environment, the MapTo3d platform visualizes borehole logs and geophysical data within the 3D digital twin of the terrain. This allows engineers to intuitively interpret stratum continuity and fault planes, reducing geological uncertainty by up to 40% and proactively identifying risks.
